One of the things I love about living in Calgary is how small businesses are thriving. In a time when other sectors are experiencing a slump, handmade, vintage, and small are being supported by and in turn are supporting the community. This series is going to take a look at those businesses!
Vintage-fashion lover Myra Miller recently took her clothing curations to the next level and has opened up her own brick & mortar shop on 17th Ave. Velour Clothing Exchange is a beautiful and bright space, filled with fantastically unique pieces, carefully selected by Myra herself. There’s handmade art pieces hanging on the walls, and all of the fittings are locally made.
Leonie from Maple and Oak Designs and I headed there this weekend for a great preview of the shop. We each came away with an awesome piece! Leonie picked out a beautiful handmade knitted cardigan and I picked up a great embroidered shirt that I cannot wait to wear!
If you’re interested in checking out Myra’s shop and grabbing some great finds like ours, Velour is having a grand opening on Sunday, November 12th. Head over to Facebook for more info!
